Urgent Request for Educational Gifts
GambiaHELP is partnering with the Peace Corp to assist students in The Gambia in dire need of funds to continue their education. The goal of this new Volunteer Educational Fund will be to provide tuition, supplies, uniforms, etc. to students that would otherwise be forced to leave school. The Peace Corp will identify the students.

Update: Response to our request to assist the first two students was overwhelming and generous. Both Kelipha and Basiru will be able to continue their educations. More students will be posted soon. If you wish to donate to this project, please click below.

In Memorium – Suma JallowJune 2007
Logistics Coordinator, Suma Jallow passed away on June 2, 2007 while in The Gambia, West Africa. He was a leader with a generous sense of humor. He volunteered for GambiaHELP for 8 years. He instituted and maintained our container processing through the government and made sure that medical supplies, books and educational materials were delivered to their destinations in rural Gambia.

“Suma Jallow is terribly missed.” Shelby Tarutis, Executive Director, stated. “Suma was more than a friend, he was my brother and I mean this in every sense of the word. We fought, we argued, we loved our family and we loved and respected one another. We could not have been more closer than any other brother and sister that you would meet. His loss has been personally devastating to me. Even though I have just returned from visiting our family and sharing the mourning with them, I still cannot believe he is gone. However, I know in my heart that he would want me to carry on and to do even more now that he is not there to help. His spirit will always be with me and I urge all of those who knew and respected him to show that respect by working with us in his memory.”
